Our Goal
Our goal is simple. We want to make a high quality free encyclopedia. In order to accomplish this we hold to FOUR PILLARS:
1. Voluntary contributions of information -- We believe in the human being's desire to express itself and to contribute to worthy goals for the betterment of mankind. Few goals are more worthy than to make knowledge more accessible.
2. Collaborative consensus building -- We believe that on many topics a group of people working together can arrive at a fair and balanced presentation of a subject. In order to achieve consensus our main encyclopedia articles are accessible to be edited freely.
3. Quality Advertisement -- We believe that people should be paid for their work. This is especially true of those who manage and maintain the website and provide top level editing of articles. We hope to pay for this part of the work by donations and quality advertising.
4. Lively Debate -- We believe that on many interesting subjects, especially those on the frontiers of human knowledge, there exists a difference of opinion. In those cases a consensus article can never express the nuances of opinion that exist about the topic. For example, consider the way an atheist, a Jew, a Moslem and an Evangelical Christian would describe the historical origin of the Christian Church. In order to allow debate between different points of view, we allow essays, written by individuals to be posted on various topics.
